Socialism, Free Enterprise, and the Common Good
Rev. Robert Sirico argues in this Imprimis piece that the ideals of socialism have never been actualized in any economic system holding to socialism. This is equally the case, he points out, with modern democratic socialist systems. Perhaps, the adherents and purveyors of socialism, he argues, should rather look to the societies birthed and sustained by capitalism if they want to find real hooks in which to hang their sometimes well-intentioned ideals upon.
