The Real Reason for the Season rejected by Chicago city officials

Got to love Chicago's celebration of tolerance and diversity. The Chicago Tribune reports the local government just imposed its religion (of secularism) on the rest of Chicago by demanding that promotions for the new movie The Nativity Story could not be advertised alongside other merchants at the annual Christmas festival in Daley Plaza this year.

As Focus on the Family reports, “Cindy Gatziolis, a spokeswoman for the Chicago Mayor’s Office of Special Events, said having a Christmas movie as a sponsor might offend some people.” How about asking yourself BIG BROTHER if banning that Christmas movie might offend a lot more people.

“Having a Christmas movie as a sponsor might offend some people.” Excuse me? Let me get this right: a Christmas movie is inappropriate at Christmas time; and an open expression of Christianity is not being tolerated while other religions are allowed to express themselves? Sounds a little discriminatory, doesn’t it?

PLEASE NOTE (by the order of the police of political correctness):
“The celebration of tolerance and diversity in Chicago, Illinois extends to all applicants.” *

* Christians need not apply.

“Having a Christmas movie as a sponsor might offend some people.” What duplicity! The possibility of potentially offending some people didn’t stop the city from hosting the recent Gay Games. Would more people be offended that foreigners with HIV were temporarily allowed into the country in order to attend the Gay Olympics, or would more people be offended that a Christmas movie be promoted at Christmas-time? Apparently, the severity only applies when the government is the party offended.

Gatziolis goes on to say,“(It would) be insensitive to the many people of different faiths who come to enjoy the market for its food and unique gifts.” Give me a break. Just admit your government office is hostile to Christianity. Just admit your hostility and intolerance will offend much more people than those on the militant secular left who are offended when they are reminded of the real reason for this holiday season – namely, the celebration of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth.
