You’ve heard of “pillow dogs.” Try “pillow children.”

In the following excerpt from his recent New York Times op-ed piece, Peter Singer, infamous professor of bioethics at Princeton University, shows his cards regarding his belief that human beings are not intrinsically more valuable than animals. He argues the worth of a being should be measured not by what they are, but by what they can do:

“Here’s where things get philosophically interesting. We are always ready to find dignity in human beings, including those whose mental age will never exceed that of an infant, but we don’t attribute dignity to dogs or cats, though they clearly operate at a more advanced mental level than human infants. Just making that comparison provokes outrage in some quarters. But why should dignity always go together with species membership, no matter what the characteristics of the individual may be?”

The Pamphleteers

What’s longer than an article, but shorter and much cheaper than a book? Ask Adam Bellow, and he’ll tell you: “[It’s the] mid-length literary form known as pamphlets.” As he and his gang of professional buddies (known as the Pamphlet Guys) point out on their website “pamphlets have been at the center of every revolution and social movement in Western history.” To learn more about this generation’s pamphleteers, go to: www.pamphletguys.com.

Canada’s new “hate crimes" law sinks its teeth into Catholic man

Romans 12:9 says, “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.” Not so in Canada where their new "hate crimes law" claimed its latest victim.

The same wolf is at our own door here in the U.S. As reported by the Family Research Council this week:

"The pattern is clear: a "hate crimes" law will inevitably lead the government to police our thoughts, and, eventually, our personal opinions and beliefs. Although proponents of the bill claim that the legislation would further tolerance and help end discrimination, the only effect it will truly have is to gag people of faith and conviction who disagree with the homosexual agenda."

Political experts expect the Democrat-led Congress will be successful this year at passing this bill – currently in the form of H.R. 254. The only thing stopping it from becoming the law of the land appears to be a veto from President Bush. As to how he would respond if such a bill would reach his desk, no indication has been given.

I echo the words of the Prophet Isaiah who cried, "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil." (Isaiah 5:20 NIV)

Call or email the White House and urge the President to veto this legislation when it reaches his desk.

Barney Frank loses his cool (video)

Ahh…the Democrat’s finest. America wanted change at the last election, and they sure got it. In this video clip, see how Barney Frank (D – MA), the new House Chair of the Finance Committee, tries to manipulate House rules in order to squelch the voice of the Republican minority party. Not only does he try to redefine “marriage” in his work on Capital Hill, but also as you can see here, he tries to give a whole new meaning to the phrase “distinguished gentleman.”

Want some objective journalism about the war in Iraq?

You may find Michael Yon to be just what you’re looking for. Mr. Yon is very impressive in many ways. Besides being one the premiere embedded Iraqi war correspondants, he also exemplifies that one does not need much formal education to be extremely well educated and articulate. See for yourself. Watch this very insightful and stimulating interview he did on C-Span’s Washington Journal in October of last year. I would also encourage you to bookmark his website and visit there periodically. You can find it at: www.MichaelYon-Online.com.

Study Finds Conservatives More Generous Than Liberals

In a recently released study entitled, “Who Really Cares?,” Arthur Brooks, professor of public administration at Syracuse University, debunks the notion that conservatives are stingy with their money and time. By the way, even when the tithe is not considered, this study reveals religious people are among those who give the most of their income as well as their time. Frankly – despite how the MSM and Hollywood try to portray it – I’m not surprised by these findings. Take some church friends of mine, for example. This Christian couple gave three months of their lives last summer to travel down to New Orleans to help with the clean-up efforts.

Click here to hear an interview with the professor regarding this study on the December 28th broadcast of the Dennis Prager show.
